Burlington, VT based Mellow Yellow pays tribute to the psychedelic era with truly authentic renditions of some of the genre's greatest songs. While other tribute bands just play the music, Mellow Yellow goes the extra mile to capture all the hey-man-peace-and-love-grooviness of the songs that helped define a decade. From obsessively watching concert footage, to reading up on the inspiration behind the songs, to listening to studio versions of the music over and over for hours on end (much to the dismay of loved ones), the members of Mellow Yellow do all they can to get inside the songs they perform. This attention to the essence of the music – as well as dazzling arrangements, outrageous costumes and trippy video visuals – results in not just a show, but a full-on, far-out experience of an era gone by. So c'mon down for a trip back in time! The '60s may be over, but thanks to Mellow Yellow, the music -- and the spirit -- live on.

The Mellow Yellow Experience is an immersive musical theater show that transports audience members back to the time when the "Baby Boomers" came of age. The social and political upheaval of the late sixties had a major influence on popular music that still resonates today. In the Mellow Yellow Experience, five accomplished and versatile musicians perform authentic renditions of the era's greatest songs while a stunning multi-media presentation brings each of the songs to life.

For example, "Ohio" is played along with archival footage of the Kent State protests and president Nixon's reaction. "Space Oddity" by David Bowie is played with the images of the Apollo missions and first lunar landing. "Psychedelic" songs like "White Rabbit" are performed with an authentic recreation of the liquid light shows originally seen at the Fillmore West and Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco.

Add to this a pair of Go Go dancers, outrageous costumes and sixties "pop-art" set pieces, and you've got a full-on, far-out experience of an era gone by. Our performers are well versed in the cultural, historical and technical significance of the music and are available for meet and greet sessions as well as "history of rock and roll" seminars linked to performances.

Now you can get the full Mellow Yellow Experience - The grooviest theme ever for your next business meeting or organizational event. Hear the psychedelic sounds. See the outrageous costumes. Dig the trippy light show as it swirls and pulsates to the music.  While our authentic musical re-creations are taking listeners on a trip back in time, you complete the scene by adding your own touches – a Lava Lamp on every table, peace medallions and tie-dyed tee shirts for every attendee. Maybe some Ben and Jerry’s Cherry Garcia for the finishing touch!   We have years of corporate event experience and can also provide walk-on music, theme songs or segues for awards shows, guest speakers, etc.
